Kampung Gajah, Bandung

We spent a few hours at Kampung Gajah in Bandung before heading back to Jakarta. I had promised Seb we would go and we finally made it.

The area is a little disorganised but well worth a visit. Seb and Zach both enjoyed a few of the rides and we will certainly head back on our next visit to Bandung.

Also from a parents point of view the coffee was fantastic!

Backyard visitors!

Over the past week or so we have had two unwelcome visitors to our backyard.

As you can imagine I was not very thrilled to hear Seb yell down the stairs that there was a snake in the backyard! After very quickly closing the back doors I realised it was a small, skinny green tree snake in a tree overhanging our side wall. It had managed it catch an unsuspecting chicak and was waiting patiently for it to die before finishing off the meal. It was fascinating to watch, especially as this green snake changed to a black and white striped snake as its body expanded to accommodate this latest meal.

Our second interesting character to find its way into the yard was an enormous black and yellow spider. Its colouring was very different to the spiders we were use to seeing at home.

Sebastian's 8th Birthday

To celebrate Seb's 8th birthday we decided to take him and his friends to Oceanpark, a waterpark not far from our house. The boys had a fantastic time riding the waterslides and playing in the waves.

As an added bonus we also visited Snow World a temporary attraction next to the waterpark. This was basically a giant freezer filled with ice sculptures, ice covered trees and an ice slide. Initially the boys thought it was fantastic but after a few trips down the slide the freezing temperatures started to take their toll. The boys, use to the standard 30 degrees of Indonesia, were stopped in their tracks by the cold conditions, so unfortunately this little adventure didn't last too long.
